  1. The Will of the People: A Big Idol among Christians Today by Max Aplin
It seems clear that the average Westerner regards the will of the majority of the people of a country as something that is very special. It seems clear too that many Christians take a similar view. However, the will of the majority is simply a mixture of good and bad desires and choices, and no more special than that. Democracy has a good track record as a system of government, but it is a mistake always to press for its introduction in those countries where it does not exist.

  2. A Plea to British Christians Not to Idolise the Queen by Max Aplin
It is common for British Christians to idolise the queen. However, all idolatry is a serious sin, and, in any case, the queen seems to have done a poor job of being the British head of state.

  3. How Seriously Should Christians Take Warnings of Climate Change? by Max Aplin
The vast majority of climate scientists warn us that continuing to burn huge amounts of coal, oil and gas will lead to an increase in the number and intensity of droughts, floods and storms. These weather events often cause widespread death and suffering, especially in poorer parts of the world. Nothing about the warnings of climate scientists contradicts the Christian faith. We should therefore take them very seriously.

  4. Remember Christians Who Are Being Persecuted for the Faith by Max Aplin
The Bible makes it clear that followers of Jesus can expect to be persecuted. In many parts of the world Christians are persecuted severely for the faith, often resulting in imprisonment or even death. We all need to help our brothers and sisters who are suffering in this way. We can help by praying, by putting pressure on politicians, and by giving money.

Money and Knowledge are two crucial factors in the life of every youth. As such, they are torn in-between which to pursue. When everything is considered, it will be realized that it is better to seek money by first seeking knowledge and to use money so accrued to further pursue and promote knowledge.

  6. Every Christian Should Be a World Christian by Max Aplin
The early Christians took a lot of interest in their fellow believers throughout the known world. We too should be finding out about, praying for and helping Christians the world over. We should also make ourselves aware of what is going on in world affairs more generally, especially so that we can pray in an informed way.

Following the horrific murders at the magazine Charlie Hebdo, there has been widespread support for the magazine and for Western values. The civil right to freedom of expression is something that is largely beneficial. However, the idea that people have a human right to say whatever they want to is completely unchristian and denies the sovereignty of God. We should offend people only when it is necessary.
