Day at the Beach
by W. Yvonne Birnell

I took a trip down to the shore
My troubled mind to ease
You see the shore I do adore
Hair blowing in the breeze

Hearing the sound of crashing waves
Brings comfort to my soul
It brought my thoughts from darken caves
So I took them for a stroll

My thoughts, enjoyed the sunshine
How happy they became
Upon my face I found a grin
As children played a game

I walked a little farther on
A quiet place to find
Soon found a rock to rest upon
I left the world behind

Like waves out on the ocean
I let my thoughts fly free
They rode upon the notion
They'd bring me jubilee

Then as the sun began to set
My thoughts came flying back
Now I could leave - without regret
With a life now back on track
