Lilies, Lemons and Lemonade
by Linda Lariscy

You've heard the saying before: "If life gives you lemons, make lemonade". If you get placed in a sour situation, make something sweet out of it. Find the lilies in the valley and relish their beauty. What lemons have you been handed lately? What's the valley you are navigating at the moment? Have you lost your job, your marriage or failing in general at life? Maybe you're just having a bad day and can't shake the blues.

You can't make lemonade without squeezing the lemons. And while you squeeze them don't be surprised if you get stung by a misguided squirt or two. Pain and loss are never welcomed but if you maintain your confidence in God's love, you will not only survive but thrive. Learn the art of being thankful amidst all circumstances. In the midst of your failing marriage look at your children and be thankful. In the midst of your sickness give thanks because you now can see what's really important. In the midst of your lousy day give thanks if you're healthy. Whatever your situation there is someone you know who is in a far worse place.

Discovering what really matters is worth it even if you are forced into it. Our "enemies" chase us to our promise lands and our "deaths" come before our resurrections. In God's plan book failures, bad days, and mishaps are merely means to reevaluate your life. Who knows, perhaps they will bring your merry-go round of mindless routine to a sudden halt, propelling you forward into God's purposes for your life!

"We know that God is always at work for the good of everyone who loves him. They are the ones God has chosen for his purpose, ..."
(Romans 8:28).
