Preacher Preaching, Spirit Speaking
by David Pekrul

"Life is speeding, time is wasting,
What is done is gone,
And what is up ahead is quite unknown,
So what you're doing in this moment,
With the time you have,
Should be a thing to make you proud, if shown."

"Whether working, whether playing,
Whether hanging 'round,
It really doesn't matter what you do,
It's how you're living in this moment,
And the way it's done,
That writes your legacy when days are through."

I hear the preacher, hear him saying,
Knows he talks to me,
But what he says is falling like a stone,
Until he talks about a Heaven,
Then he talks of Hell,
And what he says then, chills me to the bone.

"The end of life, a grave they're digging,
One for me, then you,
And then it's either up or maybe down,
But Jesus gave his life, the reason
Why you give Him yours,
So you can live with Him and wear a crown."

The Spirit beckons with conviction,
"Come the way you are,
And I will satisfy your every need,
I'll take the garments of your sin,
And make them white as snow,
For that is why I came and I did bleed."

"O, come ye sinner, quit your sinning",
I no longer hear,
Another voice is getting in the way,
And then I realize it is Satan,
With a lie or two,
Just trying to do his part to make me stray.

O, Hallowed Father in your Heaven,
Bless-ed be your name,
Your kingdom come, and may your will be done,
Please bless me with my daily bread,
Forgive me all my sin,
And help me keep temptation on the run.

The peace of Heaven came so quickly,
(Preacher preaches on),
But I no longer hear the verbal sound,
The Spirit calls and I am listening,
As He speaks within,
And now I know to Heaven I am bound.
