THE GREAT OUTDOORS poem
by Richard L. Provencher

The Great Outdoors

Today is a slide of
lazy wind and
the stream, a cascade
of surges

ducks among
evening clouds are shades
of movement

rain continues its pounce
as warm sprinkles

aged rocks
clothed in shoreline slime

and loons create their
private sounds in eerie mist.

Dusk weaves between the trees
sunbeams fanning
across ripples on the lake

our canoe eager, searching.
