IT'S TIME TO GET IT TOGETHER-PRIORITIZE!!!!
by Angela Willingham

Anything that is worth accomplishing has to begin with a solid foundation. The first step is to make a decision. Many of us have begun weight loss programs, exercise programs, diets, books, projects and self-help programs without the necessary power to complete the task. We are doing it because someone else suggested it or someone else wants us to. Your husband wants you to lose weight. Even if you need to lose the weight at the recommendation of your doctor that will not be enough to sustain your efforts until you make a decision to do it yourself.

Have you ever made excuses not to do the things you need to do?
It costs too much to eat right.
I would have to buy new clothes.
I have to cook for my family and I don't want to make two different meals.
And the list of excuses goes on and on and on.

In response to every excuse there is an answer. It costs too much not to eat right, when you think about the toll it takes on your body. Buying new clothes can be done a little at a time. One of my friends took a second job temporarily at a clothing store to get the employee discount. If God takes care of the birds, why don't you think He will provide for your needs also? You don't have to cook two meals if you are trying to eat healthy why wouldn't you also provide healthy meals for them? Do we have to tell them the meals are healthy or can we just try some healthier recipes that the entire family will enjoy. It can be done if you really want to do it.

A friend of mine told me, "Let God do it." Set your heart and mind on pleasing God in every area of your life. Include Him in every decision. Include Him in every area of your life and He will work out the other stuff. Set God as your first priority,

When the decision is made and the priorities have been set our attitude changes and we begin to see the project differently. It becomes a way to please God. In Matthew 6:33, the bible says, "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well."

Let Him show you how to take care of your mind, body and spirit. As you work on your mind, body and spirit, seek God's direction, surround yourself with like-minded people who will encourage and support your efforts. Make a decision and set little measurable goals that you can reach along the way. Re-evaluate your goals periodically to be sure that you are still on target. If you have strayed from the plan don't give up, re-focus and move forward. This applies to your spiritual, physical, relational and emotional situations. And for me it even applies to the ministry of New Beginnings.

Whatever you do, don't give up. Keep your focus on God.
