The Charge
by John Wacaster

How can we lightly hold this Charge
To Sanctify the souls of them
Who draw near to the throne of God
To warn them as they enter in
To bow the knee before the One
Who sacrificed His only Son
And paid the price we could not pay
To buy this new and living way.
Let us measure this cost so dear
The Father paid to draw us near
That we would never turn away
From those in need, and let us pray
That grace will keep us always full
Of love, for we are accountable
To keep ourselves in the love of God.
So as we sow this seed and weep
Let's seek the Lord for grace to keep
The Charge of waiting husbandmen
Till all His sheaves are gathered in.
