Picturing Spring
by yvonne north

Are the trees filled again with sweet songs of the feathered choir?
Have the bees and butterflies been playing hide and seek among the bluebells?
Has the earth changed from white to gray to a rich dark chocolate?
Is it Spring yet?

Have the convertibles tipped their hats to the sun?
Are motorcycles bellowing and belching like dragons ready to take wing?
Have bicycles and tricycles been released from winter captivity?
Is it Spring yet?

Have tulips stretched their scarlet and amber faces to heaven?
Are daffodils and pansies greeting each other over ribbons of tarmac roads?
Has earth's carpet turned soft and wet and green?
Is it Spring yet?

Have windows been washed and flung open wide?
Are houses, fences and rope lines decorated with a tapestry of quilts hanging to be aired?
Do you hear the constant growl of lawn mowers?
Is it Spring yet?

Are children playing and giggling in the cul-de-sac?
Have dresses changed from brown, and black wool to pink and blue lace?
Has a ball broken a window or made a car alarm start to scream?
Is it Spring yet?

Are the Cherry Blossoms and Dogwood Trees exploding with joy?
Have the angels spread a lace tablecloth of flowering trees on the mountainside?
Is the sound of thunder echoing across the sky?
Is it Spring yet?

Does the light tarry longer each day?
Has the earth journeyed 'round the sun far enough?
Is BABA (Father) showing HIS power, creativity, sovereignty, and tenderness?
Has GOD brought you spring yet?

I bave been a missionary in Kenya working among the Luo people as a medical clinic administrator and among the Turkana as a messenger of God's word for the past four years. My Heavenly Father has graced me on occasion with HIS words of encouragement. My prayer is to encourage others with HIS words.
