Son of Kenya
by yvonne north

My name is Odhiambo;
I am a boy child of Kenya.
Delight drenches all of my days with
Hours of wonderment spent
Discovering grand mysteries
Buried in the rich red soil.

My name is Odhiambo;
I am a boy child of Kenya.
See this favored toy mama made?
A large plastic butter tub lid
Nailed onto, a long, gnarled stick;
My fast, precision, sports car.

My name is Odhiambo;
I am a boy child of Kenya.
I hold for you my beloved kicking ball.
Baba created it for me by
Rolling plastic bags together and wrapping them with twine.
With a kick it sails to heaven.

My name is Odhiambo;
I am a boy child of Kenya.
My Baba is strong and clever,
My Mama is kind and serene,
My house is filled with love and song.
I am blessed, a son of Kenya.

I bave been a missionary in Kenya working among the Luo people as a medical clinic administrator and among the Turkana as a messenger of God's word for the past four years. My Heavenly Father has graced me on occasion with HIS words of encouragement. My prayer is to encourage others with HIS words.
