Two Shakes of a Lamb's Tail Are you Quick to Respond to God's Call?
by Nancy Quinn

"I'll be there in two shakes of a lamb's tail."

Have you ever heard that expression, or is it because I'm from Iowa that I'm familiar with this saying? Believe me, if you say that, that means you're going to be there quick!

My childhood was filled with adventure stories of "summer pets" where my sister and I would get to each take care of a pet all summer, and then my Dad would return the animals to the farmer in the Fall when we would return to school.

My all time favorite summer pet was Lambchops. My sister's lamb was named Cashmere. These two fluffy white lambs with black legs were orphans and one of our favorite things to do that summer was to feed them from a baby bottle. They would get onto their little lamb knees and their tails would begin to twitch as they excitedly ate their breakfast, almost pulling the bottles from our hands. Of course, enjoying a rousing game of tag after they ate is for another devotional. I'm sure we provided much entertainment to our neighbors each summer as they saw us racing around the house with our lambs bounding after us in pursuit.

My lambs remind me of my relationship with Christ. I want to be energetic in serving Him. I want to be quick to obey Him. And most of all, I want to have joy abounding at the privilege of serving the King of Kings!

Are you quick to obey Christ? Will you be there in "two shakes of a lamb's tail" when He calls you to do something for him?

I John 2:5 "But those who obey God's word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him."

Psalms 27:13-14 "I am expecting the Lord to rescue me again, so that once again I will see His goodness to me here in the land of the living. Don't be impatient. Wait for the Lord, and He will come and save you! Be brave, softhearted and courageous. Yes, wait and He will help you."

May God bless these words as I strive to encourage others in their walk with Christ. Please contact me if you would like to request a specific lesson that Lucy Mouse can teach your children or if you would like a coloring page to be sent to match the story!
