It's God's Pleasure
by Sheila Dougal

I'm standing in a battle right now, a battle to fully possess the teritory given to me as a wife and mother; to be a helper to my husband (Genesis 2:18) in all it's rich meaning and high calling, to be a gaurd of my home (Titus 2:4-5) and worker in it, to be a servant leader to my children in teaching them the way of the Lord throughout my day while loving and nurturing their growth (Titus 2:4-5, Eph.6:4, Deut.6:6-7). It's a battle of resistance, constantly resisting the devil who comes to kill, steal and destroy, until he flees (James 4:7, 1Peter 5:9, John 10:10).

In my studying through Joshua, I come to this passage,
"In a single campaign Joshua conquered all these kings and their land, for the LORD, the God of Israel, was fighting for his people." (Joshua 10:42), and I remember a battle I had not too long ago where a precious brother who prayed for me gave me a word of encouragement which kept my heart from fainting in my battle to stand.

My marriage was over it seemed; divorce papers filed, I prayed and sought the Lord's face daily for how I should pray and what I should do. I was so stirred and anxious about what I neeeded to pray I was overwhelmed, so I called for my closesest sister in the Lord and her husband and another couple to please pray with me. We got together and prayed in unity, seeking and hearing from the Lord. I was encouraged, yet I was fretting, still furrowed in my brow and in my heart, feeling insecure.

Then this dear brother said to me, "I just want you to know Sheila, God want's to do this. It's His pleasure. You don't have to strive for it." Peace! Peace poured over my weary, white-knuckled, furrowed-brow soul. My DADDY, King of the Universe, wrapped His arms around me in my brothers words and said, "I'm fighting for you daughter."

I need to remember that today, as I persist in faith, praying and standing against any part of the enemy's camp in the territory God's given me. I need to remember, the LORD God, who calls me His daughter, He fights for me! I don't need to fret, or furrow my brow, it's His pleasure and His power which will deliver His promise land to me!
