Carrying Burdens to the Cross
by Nancy Quinn

"What is in her mouth?" I questioned my son, as our Golden Retriever Princess trotted over to the deck and plopped the object on the ground in front of my son. She wagged her tail and was obviously waiting for the opportunity to search through the leaves in the woods to find it again.

"A rock." He innocently replied. It turns out he had been throwing rocks into the woods and when Princess came outside, she decided to join in on this new game and retrieve this interesting new version of a tennis ball. After going back inside to retrieve one of her tennis balls, I let my son continue his game, but with something softer on Princess' teeth.

The game of fetch with the rock reminds me of some of the things in our lives that we have to do. Some things may be hard and difficult to carry, but we remain obedient to God and shouldn't question the difficult things that are allowed into our life. Whether caring for an elderly family member, or dealing with our own illness, do we remain obedient and come to Christ with our burdens and let Him help us carry them as He promises in the Bible? Without questioning why he wasn't throwing her favorite tennis ball, Princess went in search for the rock that had been thrown and happily came to my son and placed it at his feet. May I always have that type of obedience to my Savior Jesus and bring all my burdens to the cross.

Matthew 11:28 "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest."

May God bless these words as I strive to encourage others in their walk with Christ. Please contact me if you would like to request a specific lesson that Lucy Mouse can teach your children or if you would like a coloring page to be sent to match the story!
