SAN FRANCISCO ALLEGORY
by Robert Bray

I've been to San Francisco, have you?
I've held her arm, taken her pulse.
She exudes magnetic charm, ancient/
youthful.

At times she's brash, boastful, arrogant.
At other times she recedes into a naive
coyness which captivates the most
sophisticated heart.

I've looked deep into her ageless face
and asked, "Who are you?"

She answered, "I am the product of time
and beholder of dreams."
But that only piqued my curiosity.

So...together we strolled, arm in arm,
sharing many thoughts.
She beheld my eyes with her's and asked,
"What is the answer my friend?"

Excited by her question. I shared with her
the Father's great love for mankind, and of
His Son, Jesus Christ, who became sin,
so that man might be saved and have Eternal Life.

She was stirred in her heart. "Oh, come
tell my people." she pleaded.

"Please tell them, please!"

As we parted, I saw one heart-shaped tear
in her eye.

"Please," she whispered again softly.

I've been to San Francisco, have you?
I've held her arm and taken her pulse.

I'm a published writer. I've been writing off and on for forty years though I've only made efforts to be published recently. My basic genre is non fiction and poetry. I believe that my writing is a God given gift although I've taken journalism courses in college. Copywright by Robert L. Bray,Sr
