Treasures of Darkness
by Terry R A Eissfeldt

It's darkest before the dawn
or so the saying goes
And though we're bruised
we won't be crushed
You promise in Your word

Why struggle to stay afloat
This blackened boiling sea
When I can hear
Your voice calling
"Dive deeper into Me"?

Treasures of Darkness
Secrets to share
Whispers of lovers
Wait for me there
Wait for me there

If God is light, why darkness?
Why chaos, Prince of Peace?
I can't let go
and dive into
The blackness of the deep

"Where can you go without Me?
Not even to the grave
I am with you
I can catch you
Let go and you'll be saved"

Treasures of Darkness
Secrets to share
Whispers of lovers
Wait for me there
Wait for me there

I'm swallowed by the darkness
But I won't be afraid
I cease to fight
Embrace the night
And sink into the grave

I hear no voice but Jesus
I see no face but His
Black is white
With Him in sight
No fear or hurt can live

Treasures of Darkness
Secrets to share
Whispers of lovers
Wait for me there
Wait for me there

The black now feels like velvet
The dark now is my friend
Here in the deep
I freely weep
Washing away all sin

You share with me Your suffering
You catch my every tear
You lift me up
Then fill my cup
My burdens You now bear

Treasures of Darkness
Secrets to share
Whispers of lovers
Wait for me there
Wait for me there

Light begins to break like dawn
The blackness fades away
Slowly rising
Sun is shining
The night becomes the day

Carried in Your loving heart
Sheltered in Your wings
I'm now ready
To love freely
No matter what life brings

Treasures of Darkness
Secrets to share
Whispers of lovers
Wait for me there
Wait for me there
