The Advent Candle
by

Advent is the season
Leading up to Christmas
Jesus was born of Mary
In a stable far from here.

We use the Advent candle
To remind us of His birth
There's four such Advent candles
If we place them in a wreath.

The candles are lit each week,
Beginning in week one
The children are excited
When they see the first one lit.

It's coming close to Christmas
When the next week we light two
Week three there's always three,
And kid's can count that far.

Four candles burning bright
Proclaims the Christmas week
When carols we all sing,
Rejoice, the Savior is born.

For Christians, the Christmas candle also signifies Jesus as being the light of the world. I many cultures the Christmas candle is said to represent victory of good over evil or light over darkness.
