"WEEDS"
by Rebecca O'Connor A weed is something that grows where it is not wanted. When Denny and I lived in the Azores, red carnations grew wild. I had them all over my yard and loved them, but the farmers hated them in the fields and would uproot them. Who would have ever thought of a carnation as just a weed and a nuisance? There are many beautiful flowers, but often because they are growing out of place they are destroyed. God made us each fearfully and wonderfully, yet when we grow where we are not wanted we become weeds. Adam and Eve were planted in a beautiful garden but grew beyond the garden as disobedient vines where they had no business growing. They were uprooted like weeds and down through the years produced many such weeds. Some however were transplanted and grafted back into the garden of the Lord. God is the husbandman to the gardens. The only way to insure our blooming is to bloom where we are planted...the planting of the Lord. When we are in the call appointed by God we are equipped to function in that place, but when we decide where to grow, we are ill equipped to function the way God intended for us to bloom. We find our roots in gravel and unnourished or in parched ground without water. We may survive the elements but not without struggle. This world is coming to the time of Christians being unwanted in the fields. We have become a nuisance to the world. This is normal since we are not of this world but out of place. Still God has planted us here. It is now hard enough to grow where God planted us let alone for us to plant ourselves where we have not been called to bloom by the Husbandman. God purchased you, Dear Flower. Let Him put you inside or outside, in any shaped pot, box or soil. After all, He purchased you for a reason and knew just where He wanted you to bloom.
