Lessons in Mercy
by Jesus Puppy

This day I learn true wisdom,
At the hand of a mighty King.
From my own will I am cast down,
In my own strength I stumble,
Yet in that darkness I see a way.

Of the world, I stand in solemn wonder,
In tears, to my knees I shall fall.
In His presence I learned of greatness,
My weakest moment, His strength is shown,
And His great mercy to me is known.

From the darkness of my own heart,
For am I naught but a man,
Wandering lost in a world of sorrow,
I learn of pain and endless strife,
Yet His light outshines the sun.

Seeking to stand forth as a man,
I fall and weep like the babe.
Yet I learn a greater way in reaching,
Reaching with trembling heart, shaking hands,
In His love I have strength to stand.

Though the mountains heights be too great,
His joy raises me on wings as an eagle.
In the palm of His nail scarred hand,
Carried high over valleys wide,
To a fastness of hope in which to hide.

When the enemy gathers against me,
In His strength will I yet stand.
In the folly of my child-like ways,
I have learned the mightiest plan,
Finding great strength and comfort,
In His precious nail scarred hand.

Our ways and works seem foremost,
Viewed by the foolishness of man.
But I have learned a greater lesson
For His words are the only wisdom,
In helping the weak to stand.
