The Right Thing?
by Jeryl Jasmine

It seemed the right thing to do at the time.
In the circumstances it didn't seem to be a crime.
At least that's what I told myself,
And hid it deeply on my own little shelf.
Then came the day the shelf gave way,
It was time now for somebody to pay.

The payment was guilt and shame,
And incredible searing pain.
I almost couldn't handle the cost,
For in reality a life had been lost.
I had spit right in God's face,
I had become judge in His place.

My child would not be perfect,
Besides my life was so crazy a baby wouldn't fit.
So I made the decision to abort,
I didn't ask God for support.
But God has His ways of showing His grace,
Even when we sin and spit in His face.

When we come to Him and confess,
He forgives and helps us clean up the mess.
He holds us in His powerful hands,
And loves us as only He can.

I am a sixty year old grandmother and a born again Christian. My writing is a gift from God and I want to use it to help others and glorify Him.
