Friendly Persuasion
by PamFord Davis

How much influence do you have? Most of us have much more than we realize. We might not win first place in a door-to-door vacuum cleaner sales contest; but what we say and do matters a great deal. Those who trust us listen to our opinions, and will strongly consider our advice. Will we use that persuasion to lead others to a personal relationship with the Lord?

Paul considered every meeting to be a divine appointment and witnessed of God's saving grace. "King Agrippa, do you believe what the prophets wrote? I know you believe! King Agrippa said to Paul, Do you think you can persuade me to become a Christian in such a short time? Paul said, Whether it is a short or a long time, I pray to God that not only you but every person listening to me today would be saved and be like me-except for these chains I have (Acts 26:27-29 NCV)." Friendly persuasion is not arm twisting. It is the story of forgiveness lovingly shared with others.
