Until the Master Returns
by Bobbi Richardson

While the world concerns itself with leisure and the pursuit of pleasure, we as Christians are to be working.

Jesus used many illustrations to show that as His followers our responsibility here is to prepare for His return. He said that as slaves and servants of the Kingdom we are to be faithfully occupied with accomplishing God's plan; not expecting ease and comfort. Like our Master we must live to complete our Father's work.

There is much to do to prepare for His return.

We have to:

Invest what we have been given in building His Kingdom by using our time, our resources, even our lives wisely.

Plant, nourish and care for the seed; our belief in and knowledge of the Truth.

Produce the fruit of love; joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control that attract others to Him.

Use the talents we have been given for good and to direct others toward Him.

We must work now while we have the opportunity. We will be called to account for how we use what we have been given. But there is a beautiful ending.

In one of Jesus' illustrations when the Master returns and finds His servants have accomplished much, He rewards them with words of praise.

"The Master was full of praise. 'Well done, my good and faithful servant..."*

Then,

"...Let's celebrate together!"*

It is our responsibility to do what God has placed us here to do; there will be a time for reward, rest and celebration when our Master returns.

*Matthew 25:21 (NLT)

I write because I want to share what Father God has taught me and because I want others to experience His love more and more. My prayer is that my words will inspire someone to seek Him, to find Him, to know Him, to love Him.
