You Belong To Me
by PamFord Davis

We desire to be independent, self-sufficient and unique individuals. If a parent, sweetheart, or mate becomes possessive or domineering, we distance ourselves. Give me space. You don't own me

Slavery is inhumane bondage. Freedom is liberation and empowers us to be all we are created to be. Slaves are a personal possession of their masters. Many are misused and abused. Others find security and ample provisions by a merciful master.

We need never feel we sacrifice personal development because we surrender to God as Lord and Master. We are also in a personal relationship. He is a benevolent Father. "You are the children of the Lord your God." "You are holy people. You belong to the Lord your God. He has chosen you from all the people on earth to be his very own (Deuteronomy 14:1a/2 NCV)." Deep inside we all yearn to belong. Security comes in the knowledge that we belong to God.
