Some thoughts on Psalm 19
by Marijo Phelps

Psalm 19 (New King James Version)
1 The heavens declare the glory of God;

Endless, magnificent, uncharted, austere, luminescent

and the firmament shows His handiwork.

Velvet grass, splendid trees and flowers, contrast, variety

2 Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge.

3 There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard.

The heaven's speak to all on earth of God's glory

4 Their line has gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun,

The heavens encompass all, speak to all yet who even planned a place within them for the sun? The Lord Jesus Christ.

5 Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoices like a strong man to run its race.

The sun like a bridegroom: strong, full of life, warmth and power radiant, AWAITING His BRIDE, focused on the wedding, ready to run, eager, equipped

6 Its rising is from one end of heaven, and its circuit to the other end; and there is nothing hidden from its heat.

In His presence is heat (power to warm and help grow or power to destroy if you are not of Him and have rejected His gift) NOTHING/NO ONE is able to hide

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; the *testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;

*speak out of the Lord and His wonder, it is truth (profound), it is His and He defends it, not you it is final wisdom HE is wisdom and truth. I don't have to be defensive.

8 The *statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes;

*At least I've found the truth to make me glad, undefiled giving life and wisdom

9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

To respect/reverence the Lord is clean and to be eternal (respect and cleanness forever) HE sees and knows all and is fair and true, so righteous

10 *More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

*the statutes and law of God are greater by far than any material or palatable substances

11 Moreover by them Your servant is warned, and in keeping them there is great reward.

Statutes and laws set up guidelines and we have positive reinforcements

12 Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults.

Some things I walk in habitually, in ignorance help me oh, God to SEE and make me pure in your eyes. Help me to walk therein (in purity)

13 Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, and I shall be innocent of great transgression.

Help me not to presume on Your forgiveness/mercy and to do things which try your mercy and forgiveness wrongly; keep me from being dominated by lusts of the flesh (mammon, overeating etc.) You keep me and I shall be upright, free, clean, pure .INNOCENT.

14 Let the words of my *mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.

*Please keep guard over the doorway to my heart and cleanse me from within so that what flows forth is pure, life giving, uncontaminated and JESUS You are my hope and power. I cannot do this without YOU. I yield, You direct, please?
