Hair
by PamFord Davis

Long hair styles on both women and men were very popular in the 1960's and 70's. Hippies refused to cut their hair in order to meet the standards of the older generation. The establishment and their three piece suits and neat hair cuts were seen as restrictive. Long hair became an outward sign of deep seeds of rebellion. We forget that many past generations also wore their hair long.

Absalom, a son of King David must have drawn the attention of many. "No one in all Israel was as handsome and well-built as Absalom. He got his hair cut once a year, and when the hair was weighed, it came to about five pounds (2 Samuel 14:25 CEV)." Hair styles do not make a lasting difference. God looks at the heart. We can not see below the surface; but our focus can be diverted from a man's locks to his true worth.
