Christ, I wonder
by Unami Magwenzi

I wonder Christ
When you were two,
Did Mary put you in timeout?
Do you remember playgroup mates
And all the teachers at the gate?

At five years old was soccer great?
I wonder did you like to win?
I wonder when the school bell rang,
Did all the children gather round?
Did teachers pick you from a crowd
And call you to the front of class?

I read when you were twelve years old,
You spoke with such authourity.
Was that the case when you were ten?
In Bethlehem did girls pass notes?
To tell you Christ they liked you so?

I'm curious 'bout your siblings too,
Did you and them get into fights?
I'm curious Lord when bed time came,
Was it a battle with your folks?

I wonder Christ so many things.
And hope you're fine with curious me.
I must confess I feared to ask
In case you thought I had no awe.

I honour you Oh Christ my King.
I can not wait until we meet.
And then I'll ask you to your face.
I wonder Christ what you will say.
