The woman Caught in Adultery
by Nellie Shani

I was gambling with my life
Being unfaithful as a wife
Knowing it was forbidden
With much guilt I was laden

He was coming today
Cos My husband was away
I was trapped in its sway
Command to faithfulness would not obey

I was not aware
My neighbor would dare
To call me to account
By telling people all about

The noise was very loud
For it was a big crowd
Threatened to break down the door
If I hesitated any more

To the street I was dragged
Caught you in the act they bragged
As they picked up the stones
I felt chills to my bones

Then they threw me at his feet
With much fear my heart did beat
His dusty feet were sandled
Lay there as my head I cradled

Then he knelt beside me
Though my character was slimy
Didn't know what he wrote on the ground
When I looked up, there was no one around

Said daughter where are thy accusers?
No more should you live like a loser
Woman go and sin no more
As he wiped the tears from my brow
