Jeffrey's Christmas Miracle
by Karie Spiller

Jeffrey was excited. Tomorrow was Christmas and he was looking forward to going to church and seeing Grammy, Opa, and his cousins. He had been busy helping Mommy wrap presents, bake cookies and decorate the house. On Christmas Eve, Daddy read the Christmas story and then he went to bed. He finally fell asleep and had a dream.

He was playing his favorite game on the computer when all of a sudden he was sucked into it. He found himself on a hillside. He looked down and discovered that he was wearing shepherd's clothes. He petted a sheep and picked up a baby lamb. The lamb's wool was soft. He hugged the baby lamb and looked at the other shepherds huddled around the fire to keep warm. He went over and sat down with them. An older shepherd looked at him and smiled.

"Shepherd Jeffrey, can you go fetch us some water from the stream?"

Jeffrey got up and went to the stream. On his way back from the stream he saw a bright light and some angels in the sky. He was so scared, he dropped his bucket of water and ran to the comfort of one of the bigger shepherds. Then the angels started singing.

"Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth, Peace, Goodwill to men."

Jeffrey followed the shepherds to a tiny stable in Bethlehem and he looked into the manger. Inside was a beautiful little baby boy. Mary was kneeling by the manger, while Joseph looked on with pride.

"This is Jesus," Joseph said.

Jeffrey reached out and touched Jesus' head.

He rubbed it gently and said, "Hi Baby Jesus."

Then he sang a little song for Jesus and Jesus cooed and smiled at him. He closed his eyes and opened them only to find himself on a camel. He was surrounded by many men in rich clothing and finery. The men were looking up into the sky at a beautiful star. One of them looked at Jeffrey and pointed to the star.

"Wise Man Jeffrey, look the star has stopped, let's go see this King."

Jeffrey followed them into the house where a little boy was sitting on the floor playing with little wooden animals. The other wise men bowed to this little boy and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Jeffrey bowed too because he knew this was Jesus, who was going to die on the cross for his sins.

When he woke up he was back in his room.

"It's Christmas," he shouted as he ran to his sister's room where he told them all about his amazing dream.

It was the best Christmas he had ever had.
