Spiritual Warfare: Friends From Outer Space
by Nellie Shani

One parent who was very alert and in touch with what his child may have been going through, was Ron (not his real name). Ron told me that he was concerned about his seven year-old son.

Why are you concerned? I queried. Well it happens that his son, Martin, was doing so badly in class that his teacher had asked to see his parents so that they could work together to help the boy.

Although he was a very intelligent child, there were times when he could not figure out problems as simple as three plus two! He was distracted particularly in his math class, although his French teacher had also noticed some strange behavior.

He only had one friendFreddy. What drew Martin and Freddy together was their love for drawing strange cartoon- like looking creatures.

Ron thought that there might have been something spiritual going on.

When Martin eventually came to my office, he stood at the door and slowly looked at the walls in my office with a smile on his face. He walked in very slowly and deliberately. Other than that, he looked like a perfectly normal child.

I understand that you are a great artist! I quipped, with much enthusiasm. Martin pulled out a drawing book where he had drawn at least one hundred little drawing. Each character had a name and they were somehow related to the other characters in the book. I was taken aback at how precise and accurate the drawings were. One would have thought that this was the work of a professional cartoonist!

He told me that all the characters were from outer space. They all had antennas, and grotesque looking facial features. To a casual observer these may have looked like the fantasies of a seven year old, but something in my spirit just did not feel right.

As I prayed silently, the Holy Spirit led me to ask, Have any of them ever visited you? It was like a dam broke! Martin showed me the friends that sat next to him in his math class and the ones that came to his French class.

He showed me a father with his son that always appeared at the end of his mosquito net every night. I asked him if any of them scared him, and he said that the father and son are the ones who scared him, because he often did not hear them walking into his room. He said he would opens his eyes in the middle of the night, and they would be standing there looking at him!

It took many weeks of talking with Martin and his parents and praying for the deliverance of this child from evil spirits that had invaded his life, for him to get total freedom.

It took a while to convince Martin that these were not really his friends. He eventually prayed and asked Jesus to keep these creatures away from him. His parents kept asking him about these creatures and he said that they never came back again. The change in his grades in Math and English were remarkable!
