Town Without Pity
by PamFord Davis

It is always nice to have the approval of the masses. Popularity polls reveal how well government leaders do at convincing the electorate. High numbers result in high fives and numbers in the basement draw attention to a leader's inability to lead. The Capitol City can quickly turn on its shining star and become a town without pity.

Crowds, in a short time span of days changed their tune from Hosanna to Crucify! Jesus found no pity from the religious leaders or people that populated Jerusalem. "Pilate asked them again, 'Then what do you want me to do with the One you call the King of the Jews?' Again they shouted, 'Crucify Him!' Then Pilate said to them, 'Why? What has He done wrong?' But they shouted, 'Crucify Him!' all the more (Mark 15:12-14 HCS)." A city mob turned against their only entrance into the Kingdom of God. A remnant followed Him to a hill called Calvary, and with pity witnessed His crucifixion.
