The King Is Coming
by PamFord Davis

Couples expecting a child, plan, prepare and patiently wait for the blessed event. The doctor assures both of them that everything is right on schedule. Together they learn of all the signs of labor and delivery, wanting to be sure to get to the hospital on time.

I have been an expectant mother twice and remember well each sign that indicated labor had indeed begun. Soon after, I held within my arms the fruit of that labor. I am now an expectant daughter of God anticipating the arrival of His Son, returning when least expected. (Matthew 24:36-50)

Jesus compares His coming to the time of Noah and the great flood. Skeptics learned too late. They simply did not believe a flood would come. "So be prepared, for you don't know what day your Lord is coming (Matthew 24:42 The Book-Living Bible)." Expectant mothers pack a suitcase far in advance of the climatic trip to the hospital. Our best preparation for Jesus' arrival is announcing His return.
