We Have Been Given Today
by Marijo Phelps

When you really think about it, how much time do you have? The Bible speaks of not borrowing trouble from tomorrow because today has enough trouble and also that we are only given today, right now, this minute. None of us knows how many days are written for us in the "book of life", do we? Once again I hear that still, small voice whispering to my heart:

I do desire to speak to your heart, child this is the day that I, the Lord, have made. This is your focus. I have and am going before you to prepare the way but rest that I AM the detail planner/arranger. Yours is today.

In Exodus 33:11 the Word talks about the Lord speaking to Moses face to face as a man speaks to a friend. What an awesome compliment to the relationship that Moses had with his Lord. He will speak to us in His still small voice if we be still and know that He is God. All that He lays on our heart will line up totally with what is already in His Word, the Bible.

Psalm 118:24 reminds us that this is the day the Lord has made. The psalmist states he will rejoice and be glad in it. Guess that cuts off all murmuring and complaining, or at least it should.

In Psalm 95:7 the psalmist talks about He being our God and us being the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand. It goes on saying Today if you will hear His voice..Hum, He calls us sheep.

We have some which live near here. They aren't the smartest animals if you take time to watch them but they do know and respond to the voice of their shepherd. They might be smarter than we think! Maybe we should think about becoming more and more like sheep, His sheep. We already know Jesus is the most incredible Shepherd!

Prayer: Dearest Lord Jesus, You have given us today. Thank You for talking with us and helping us to focus. Thank You that You have and do continue to go before us and prepare our way. Help us to walk very closely in Your footsteps. Help us never to be out of sync with You! AMEN
