Restoration
by Joyce Hampton

Living unlike oneself---
Dropping gut feelings in a trash can
Saying "please" and "thank you" to bullies
Washing in a bathtub of excuses.
So glad water evaporates
Could have taken final breath before
Crying out for change
His instruction came like a lightning bolt
Ears opening
Feet walking through Time
Understanding existence must align
At last, the real image shines.
