Till He Became Strong
by Jasti Victor

His fame spread far and wide, for he was marvelously helped
till he became strong. 2 Chronicles 26:15

Sixteen year old Uzziah was made King,
As his father King Amaziah was on his death bed.
He ruled Jerusalem for fifty five years, doing right in the sight of God.
He built Eloth and restored it to Judah and warred against the Philistines.
As long he sought the Lord God, God prospered him,
Taught by his father, blessed by God, till he became strong,

God helped him, against the Arabians, the Mehunims,
And the Ammonites, even the Egyptians and became strong.
Building towers in Jerusalem, fortifying its walls,
Digging wells, prospering with abundance of cattle and wine,
Building up a well trained, well equipped fighting force,
He invented engines, which can shoot arrows and great stones.

As he became strong, he turned adamant and egoistic,
Taking the route to his own destruction,
Going up to the temple one day,
To burn incense upon the altar,
Azariah, along with eighty brave priests, tried stopping him,
Making him to leave the Holy sanctuary, but in vain.

King Uzziah, was wroth against the priests,
And held on to the censer, in his hand, and as the priests,
Watched stunned, leprosy struck him on his forehead.
Making him a leper through out his life and he died a leper.
As long he sought the Lord God, God prospered him,
Till he became strong, which lead him to his destruction.
