Joseph(1) Overcoming Life's Challenges
by Fenny West

Overcoming Life's Challenges
Rising Above the Tempests of Life.
Requires accommodating changes,
Soaring Above the Storms of Life.

Treachery became a teacher.

You can be sold by your brothers,
betrayed by your friends and family,
misunderstood by your siblings.
They may plot to kill you, abort your dream.

His father loved him more;
That opened hatred-door.
Favour bought and brought danger.
The coat of many colours
brought out their true colours.
jealousy, envy, ran riot.

'That dream of dominion shall not be'
They vowed. 'You will do it in the grave.
'You will reign over us on our dead bodies.'

But in innocence he dreamed and told again,
Fuelling the fire of fury, anger,
hatred, betrayal and bitterness.

'Look the dreamer is coming, let's snuff his life out and kill the dream.'

Stripped of his coat but not of his dream;
Thrown in to the pit, Joseph escaped death by the skin of his teeth.

Reason prevailed, compassion reigned
Reuben, and Judah's voices ruled:
'Leave him alone. Why should we kill him? What would we gain?
'Let's sell him instead and make some money.'

Amongst your enemies,
God would raise a voice
to support you.
That voice may not know
why it does what it does,
but God knows how
to turn the hearts of kings,
princes, tugs and cowboys;
like the courses of a mighty river,
to speak His mind, vote for you,support you
and do His will and bidding by His leading.

You will not die before your time.
You will fulfill the dream
God ordained for you
before the foundation of the world.
Help shall arise
from a quarter you least expected,
to show that it is not by your might
nor by your power but by
the Spirit of the Living God.

They did not like his dream
but could they stop the dream?
They ridiculed the dream
But it did not stop him from dreaming.
They opposed the dream
but it gave him wings and he rose.

So, Joseph became merchandise,
Traded as a slave for some cash
that turned out to be trash.

God was still guiding and guarding.

The merchandise changed hands
from slave to servant of soldier-
officer Potiphar.

Now serving dignitaries,
was the dream turned on its head?

Back home his brothers lied and lied
to cover their murderous tracks.
They acted innocent
blamed it on a wild animal,
but their conscience disagreed.
They turned veteran actors overnight;
displaying shameful antics
and acrobatics of contrived bogus grief,
It was wanton, a conspiracy;
a con on mum and dad.

'O how dreadful,' they said.
'We were so, so powerless;
The animal was menacing, eyes blood-
shut , spitting fire and brimstone like a dragon,
hungry for human meat
We were next on the menu,
so we fled the deadly grizzly venue
with our lives in our hands.

'It was awful to watch our brother torn and carried away by the beast.
'It's a miracle we escaped; luckily with his coat, full of blood.
'O, what a pity, and he had such a great future.'

Jacob was so distraught and almost died
but God was in charge and very much at work, sending his angel to protect..

Treachery would be turned into victory one day.
