In The Wee Small Hours of the Morning

I regularly slept until noon, and went to bed shortly before sunrise during my engagement. My future husband worked the graveyard shift and we talked on the phone most of the night. Now, I am up long before dawn and retire when others just begin to wind down for the day. I enjoy the stillness of early hours and freedom from distractions.


Jesus often spent time alone in prayer during hours of darkness, receiving the Fathers light. Bible writers frequently mention morning meditation and prayer, encouraging us to set aside quiet times of communion.


The Lord speaks to me at different times of the day, but morning is a time of intimacy. I recognize His voice in scripture, prayer, reading of hymns and devotionals. Often I will see a repeated theme from different sources and accept it as God's timely message. "The next morning, the word of the Lord came to me (Ezekiel 12:8a ERV)." I wonder how many of His messages I fail to open
