Song of Praise in Spring-time (The Gift)
by Laura Swindon-Ross

I have wandered along this little road many times, but never has God seemed to be so much in abundance and my poor soul been so much in receipt of His perfect and most benevolent affection! Never have the birds sung so sweetly and the sun been so gentle and so kind in its winter-breaking kiss! The tides of blossom in the trees are as a thousand angels dusted in dream of golden sleep; the river in its song of crystal sings its eye of brimming topaz upon the surface of my shadowed, mortal life and tells me this: Wake up, dear pilgrim, take your Savior's hand and walk in bliss!

If I met just one man on my path today, I would give everything I own and yet the only thing I truly own, is this: My faith in God! Yet the secret of this faith is surely that it must be gifted on, forever and eternal, to each man on the road, in all the Seasons of this Life; in this way, both giver and receiver are eternally twice-blessed - each one a thousand times the richer for the sweet imparting of the gift!
