When a Man Loves a Woman
by PamFord Davis

The foolish ignore godly judgment. What they once saw clearly, the object of affection veils. Reckless love blinds us to reality of consequences through questionable relationships, and logic goes out the window, allowing desire to take the lead. We must beware of silencing the voice of conscience and rejecting wise counsel.

Looking back at the story of Samson and Delilah, we wonder how he could be so clueless to her agenda. She used her feminine wiles and manipulation, persuading him to reveal the source of his great strength. (Judges 16:1-18) He eventually gave in and told the truth.

"Then she let him fall asleep on her lap and called a man to shave off the seven braids on his head. In this way, she rendered him helpless, and his strength left him. Then she cried, 'Samson, the Philistines are here!' When he awoke from his sleep, he said, 'I will escape as I did before and shake myself free.' But he did not know that the Lord had left him (Judges 16:19-20 HCS)." He should have escaped when she repeatedly baited the trap!
