Risky Business
by PamFord Davis

Commitment is risky business; we want to limit how far we will go when sharing with others. Our life is compartmentalized and certain areas are clearly marked. Do Not Enter. We use time and discernment as guides, testing the faithfulness of others before allowing more leeway.

Some individuals and animals rapidly relieve our fears, gently working past our barriers in an attempt to become a part of our lives. Their affection and emotional support win us over, melting our hearts and earning our trust.

God wants total commitment and richly rewards us for personal surrender. "So I beg you, brothers and sisters, because of the great mercy God has shown us, offer your lives as a living sacrifice to him an offering that is only for God and pleasing to him. Considering what he has done, it is only right that you should worship him in this way. Don't change yourselves to be like the people of this world, but let God change you inside with a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to decide and accept what God wants for you. You will be able to know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect (Romans 12:1-2 ERV)." All of me, Lord I surrender all into your loving care
