Sweet Fragrance
by Terry R A Eissfeldt

She was vile and she carried a vial
of alabaster filled with fragrance sweet

She was vile yet she broke the costly vial
then with oil and tears and kisses
she washed His feet

She came with all that was dear to her
She came though none would come near to her
His love was drawing her past the fear
Sweet fragrance was filling the air

He is holy and He carries love wholly
from the throne of God to a lost and lonely world

He is holy yet He paid for us wholly
when they broke His body
on that cross so long ago

He comes with all that we don't deserve
He comes though we run from His open arms
Such love should draw us all past the fear
Sweet fragrance is filling the air

Sweet fragrance of a costly sacrifice
Sweet fragrance of a wholly holy life
Sweet fragrance draws us to Your side
Sweet fragrance of love crucified
