JOY

The Scriptures are full of astounding statements. One of which is found in Philippians 2:5,6; "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus; who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God." Let this mind be in you. What was Jesus thinking? For one thing, He was thinking of the joy that was set before Him. Hebrews 12:2 "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." Jesus was truly on a mission from God. Hebrews 2:10 tells us that "bringing many sons unto glory" is the purpose of this very important mission. Jesus was, and still is today, totally committed to this objective.

In John 15:9-13 we have another clue about what Jesus was thinking. We read that He loves us equally as much as God loves Him. He also says that we should continue in His love for one another. He tells us this so that His joy would remain in us and that our joy would be full.

In John 15:1-8 Jesus likens the kingdom of God to a vineyard. He is the vine, we are the branches, and the Father is the husbandman, or farmer. A branch that bears fruit is pruned so that it will bear more fruit and this makes the farmer very happy.

The Lord will rejoice over His vineyard. Zephaniah 3:17 "The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will rejoice over thee with singing."

Praise Jesus. Just want to share the Joy!
