If You Don't Know Me By Now
by PamFord Davis

We sometimes know the least about those we feel we know very well. A marriage ends following news of a long affair. The surprised spouse and neighbors were clueless about something more obvious to outsiders. News reports describe the life of a terrorist living in a middle-class neighborhood. Interviews reveal the individual seemed no different from those living close by.

Jesus shared the Father's word, will, and ways with large crowds and in seclusion with His disciples. The select group of followers thought they knew Him very well. "Jesus said to him, 'Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how do you say, 'Show us the Father (John 14:9 NAS)?" Many walked behind Him out of curiosity or desire to see miracles. They never realized His identity as God the Son.
