The Good Life
by PamFord Davis

We have not yet arrived; the media and advertisers place seeds of discontent and greed in our minds. We will be happy when we get.when we gowhen we ownwhen we eat or drink. Fulfillment is just out of reach and the good life is for somebody else. Do we find happiness in prosperity?

I remember my disappointment after we built our first home, and having it furnished with new furniture. I enjoyed it, but not nearly as much as I anticipated. Material things make us more comfortable, but they do not bring lasting satisfaction.

"Though the fig tree does not bud and there is no fruit on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will triumph in the Lord; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation (Habakkuk 3:17-18 HCS)."
