Darkness of Despair
by PamFord Davis

I give very little thought about light until I experience a power failure and rely on flashlights or lanterns. There is a sense of peace and safety when I am in lighted areas. Dark buildings or outside areas make me feel uneasy.

In times of sadness or trouble, darkness seems to be in control. It invades our minds and casts a shadow of discouragement. We struggle to return to the light of hope and comfort. God has not left us to battle alone. He may be ready to do a great work.

"I will give you treasures hidden in dark and secret places. Then you will know that I, the Lord God of Israel, have called you by name (Isaiah 45:3 CEV)." I will not be afraid of the dark; the Lord is there to reveal His hidden treasures. His light will illuminate each gift prepared for me in my darkness of despair.
