Poems from Another Lifetime Part 6
by Marijo Phelps Poems from another Lifetime Part 6 SEARCHING It's been a hundred years Since you went away In a hundred years New generations come and go The old ones forgotten It's a different world now And in my world I can't find you But for a hundred years I'm looking To the day. I LOVE YOU To be with you forever Is what I want most of all And forever is A long, long time. GOOD MORNING I brushed my teeth this morning too. And while I did I thought of you And how terrible it would be If at this time you could see me I looked into the glaring mirror Things are pretty bad I fear Couldn't sleep at all last night So I read a book by weak flashlight Finally at quarter to twelve Underneath the covers I delve Lying there, thinking things As I drowse off the telephone rings I was lying there, thinking of you Kind of a silly thing to do That blasted phone just had to ring At times like this I hate that thing! Then we start that grand old game Of "why don't you try to guess my name?" Ten minutes thus go by And finally the stupid guy Realizes he doesn't know me at all And hangs his phone upon the wall WRONG NUMBER I look back in the mirror again, Shut my eyes and blink, and then My cherry roommate says "hello" She's still wondering why I told her Where to go. HANDING ME YOUR HEART Five yellow daffodils, for me. Even a poem cannot express What I want to tell you All I can say is THANK YOU From the innermost spark Of that which is me. HIS EYES Those eyes of blue Questioning and deep Blue you can lose yourself in Mirrored in the blue Are innocence and maturity together Those eyes that mine are searching For the only clue I can get As to the owner's true feelings Eyes that hide many mysteries But can't hide love Blue, which soon might be A memory only Haunting me night and day. THE LONELY ONE II They didn't love him He who was sweet and kind They didn't want him His love became hard to find They rejected him Looked at him with scorn They refuted him So his heart was torn Somewhere there was another Who'd been unwanted as he Someone who wanted him That someone was she She and He confided And found that some did care He and She went searching And found the world more fair Both of them together Discovered that there was love Two of them together With help from One above Smiling faces now greet them God had answered their plea But what would have happened If He had never met She? This is part of a series of poems which were written years ago before I came to know Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Some were written when I was a professing atheist and an alcoholic. If you have read my pieces since I came to Jesus I think the contrast is evident. My blog is: http://myincrediblelord.blogspot.com/ (C) Marijo Phelps all rights reserved. Use with proper credits.
