Time to Get Busy For Christ
by Janice S Ramkissoon

As Christians, we are sometimes too comfortable in the confines of our church pews. We are too busy with our own agenda to be bothered with that of our Masters'.

Outside the church doors the immoralities lurk, then it creeps in unnoticed because we are so busy keeping up appearances. No time for service to others because we have a title and of such we are of 'great importance'. Bringing others to Christ and helping them in their walk has become a thing of the past as the club culture becomes a regular scene.

The same issues lurking outside affects the very people sitting in the church pews:

Increasing violence on our door steps;

Child abuse;

Battered wives and husbands;

Gang members trapped within a circle;

Drug dealers in a game of survival;

Prostitutes confused;

Teenage girls repeating visits to the abortion clinics;

Homosexuality;

Fornication and Adultery;

Drug Addicts;

Alcoholics;

And leaders constantly falling from grace...

We refuse to realise that we are living in 'end times'. We are the salt of the earth but it seems we have lost our flavour.

Fear keeps us in the church building instead of the highways and byways. Gone are the days of evangelising. Now we are in the age of advance technology - this welcome new way of evangelising should be seen as an addition to aid the process and not as a replacement. Sadly, this is not the case for some.

When we look at the technology and the architecture of the building as a replacement, we begin to glorify these elements and expect people to come to us and not us going to them. We forget the call to serve and expect others to serve us instead. We should be careful to give God all the glory - none of that praise belongs to us.

Each season that appears, sees us decorating our church buildings in accordance to the seasons' theme but:

Is our daily walk in accordance to His Word?

Are we being true disciples - Fishers of men?

Are we Telling the Good News/ spreading the truth of Salvation?

Or

Are we comfortable where we are, thanking God its "them" instead of us?

This is a new day. God has a new task for you. Don't wait until New Year's Eve, your next birthday or some special occasion to make a new resolution your calling is to serve. You are 'saved to serve', so don't think that the problem is nothing to do with you. We are all connected to each other and as the spirit leads we aught to follow.

Love one another;

Encourage each other;

Take care of each other.

Your action could be the answer to someone's prayer. So be obedient to His call and answer not "Why me?" But "Yes Lord", and humble yourself before Him so He can use you according to His plan. Let your service be counted towards His Kingdom.
