Who told you?
by Chris Umeweni

Most times we are always careful to know the source of the information we hear. Failure to do this have caused a lot of crisis in most business places, marriages, societies and even the world as a whole; but a wise person would sit back and ensure the information is from a right source before it is acted upon.

This also applies to our individual lives. Man is a spirit, possessing a soul (which is responsible for our emotions, will and intellect) and dwelling in a temporal body. Permit me to say God created man looking at the mirror; that is to say, exactly in His image and made man 'like' Himself. It is little wonder Jesus said, "God is a spirit so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth" (John 4:24 NLT).

Now, the devil who is also a spirit moves about seeking for whom to bring along with him to hell; for it is not the will of God that any man perish but that all comes to repentance (2Peter 3:9). The devil has no other work than trying to counter the plans and purposes of God for humanity.

This is why it's so important that we train our spirit from an early stage to hear, recognize and obey the voice of God.

The devil may not come bodily like a snake to speak now as he did in the days of Adam & Eve. He's so cunning these days that he tries to get our minds. He tries to make every problem of our lives look bigger than God; but thanks be to God that Jesus Himself who knows the Father so well said, 'With God, all things are possible'. What a mighty God we serve!

Oh! How I still hear God in a heartbroken tone ask His people the same question He asked Adam & Eve:
"Who told you that you were naked?" (Genesis 3:11 NLT)
"Who told you that I can't protect you?"
"Who told you that I can't heal you?"
"Who told you that I can't provide for you?"
"Who?"

Have the happiness we everyday enjoyed suddenly turned into sorrow due to one problem of life; making us doubt God Who has always kept us?
This know, that while we live here on earth, problems are bound to arise but thanks be to God Jesus came and said, "Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world" (John 16:33). Never listen to the devil that defeated foe!

At times of life's downs, let us be careful of whose voice we hear and obey. There is a need to patiently wait for God to speak. He is always speaking, even through His Word.
