Do You Want To Be Free?
by Robert Driskell

Human beings begin life enslaved. Each of us is imprisoned by an inward tendency to be selfish people. This tendency is a result of our separation from God. It bears down on us like a heavy dark cloud at times.

We are unable, in our own power to free ourselves from this predicament. Only by being in a correct relationship to God through Jesus Christ are we freed from the inevitable pull of this destructive condition.

If we are honest with ourselves we know that there is a God. He is revealed in creation.
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. (Romans 1:20 NASB)

The Bible says that everyone knows that there is a God. This means that those who say "There is no God" are either intentionally lying or they have been successful in deluding themselves into believing a lieor they are in outright rebellion against Him.

God's tug upon our lives is felt in our hearts. No one is exempt. The problem with too many people is that they fight the truth of God and its implications.

Many people think that, if they acknowledge that there truly is an all-powerful Creator to whom they owe their existence, they will be placed under a list of do's and don'ts. They believe that this will increase the pressure and responsibility that they already feel they have too much of.

However; that is exactly the opposite of what Jesus says in the Bible. He says,
"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30 NASB)

The load is lifted from you. God did not send Jesus to die on the cross to make our lives more burdensome and difficult. Just the opposite: a life lived for God is how life was meant to be lived. It is the perfect expression of life.

Constant fighting is exhausting. When you are rejecting the truth that God says is evident to everyone, it is a battle. You are fighting what, deep down inside, you know to be true.

There is no rest for the soul doing battle.

Just stop fighting!

Then we are flowing with the plan of God instead of fighting to swim upstream against Him.
