Answering The Riddle
by Dale Linton

1Jn 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

The Spirit, water and blood bear witness in that they are all life giving substances. What is it that is present in our veins, aiding in the transporting of blood? The answer is water and when we die the water seperates from the blood. This became proof of the death of Jesus when his side was pierced.

John 19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

Modern science has discovered many things about our blood, but not how to artificially reproduce it. This is why we must give blood because its true source of life is a mystery. Of course, Gods word is in full agreement with biological science reguarding the relationship between blood and life..

Gen 9:5 And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.

Lev 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

What do you suppose might be the ingredient, together with blood and water, that completes the composition of life within this red solution called blood?

Job 33:4 The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

2Co 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life

Joh 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

I submit to you that 1 John 5:8 is revealing that as we are alive on this earth, our blood, our spirit and water coexists within us providing life. But when we die there is a seperation of these three. John 19:34 reveals the biological truth of the seperation of blood and water, but where is there evidence of our spirit seperating?

Ecc 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Luk 8:53 And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.
Luk 8:54 And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.
Luk 8:55 And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.
Luk 8:56 And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.

If we can accept this as a biblical truth, it opens up more clues into the mysteries of Gods word .Consider this; if its true that our blood is where our spirit is housed , then it is there too that the Holy Spirit makes His abode with us. Also, note that the biblical words marrow and bones are symbolically reflecting Gods life within us because the production of red blood cells occurs in our bone marrow. It will make your head spin!

I have a desire to see the body of Christ edified. Within the broad spectrum of edification I feel there exists a great need and opportunity for spiritual education at foundational levels. Please contact me about speaking at your church. Dale Linton 410-378-5035 or [email protected]
