Worth My Salt
by PamFord Davis

My birth city, Syracuse is termed the salt city, not a catchy identification, but a solid foundation. People use salt in many more ways than simple flavoring of foods.Syracuse is located in the Snow Belt, highway maintenance crews apply salt to snow and ice covered roads, bridges and overpasses. It serves as a safety and life-preserving agent, used routinely and often taken for granted.

Scriptures reveal another supply and demand for salt. God commanded salt in sacrifices and offerings. "You are to season each of your grain offerings with salt; you must not omit from your grain offering the salt of the covenant with your God. You are to present salt with each of your offerings (Leviticus 2:13 HCS)." Am I worth my salt? Does God find me on the solid foundation of his covenant?
