Words to Live By
by Bobbi Richardson

Matthew 4:4 (NIV) - Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.' "

We need to start each day listening to the words of our Father.

Like our bodies need nourishing food, our souls need His word in order to survive the day.

God's word, and especially the words Jesus spoke, are even more essential to our daily lives than food, water and exercise.

When tempted by satan, Jesus quoted Scripture (Deuteronomy 8:3).

Without a daily portion of God's word we are starving. We grow weak and weary and are easily discouraged. It is easy for us to give in to temptation.

Each new day is a gift from our Heavenly Father and when we begin every day listening to His advice and reassuring ourselves of His love, we are better equipped to face whatever challenges that day will bring.

If we have spent time alone with our Father absorbing what He says and meditating on His words, we will have a safe place to run when we are overwhelmed by the stresses and cares of the day. We can direct our minds to His words and be refreshed; we can remember His message to us and gain strength and encouragement to keep on going.

With His word hidden in our hearts every day, we are confident of His presence and assured of His help.

"Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God"...words to live by.

I write because I want to share what Father God has taught me and because I want others to experience His love more and more. My prayer is that my words will inspire someone to seek Him, to find Him, to know Him, to love Him.
