Port Hood at Cape Breton
by Richard L. Provencher

Clouds are plotting
with darkness
as wind-driven waves
follow whitecaps
in a pounding
against the shore.

From ocean's turmoil
a sleek fishing boat
boasts its catch
a 647 lb tuna
lobster
cod and mackerel
awaiting their turn.

Families wrap around
the dock sharing space
beside stacks
of lobster traps --
oh for a chance to race
the wind in a 'Lady
Shelby' boat and bring
home bragging rights.
